Data is at the core of much of what Lighthouse does. Here are a few of the ways that Lighthouse can provide insightful data analysis.
Geospatial Analyses
While service territory-wide data is often sufficient, understanding variations across a service territory can be used for planning targeted programs and non-wires assessments.
Selected Client Projects
- Conducted geospatial assessment of conservation and demand response potential for Snohomish Public Utility District
- Developed custom maps of Highly Impacted Communities for Clean Energy Implementation Plans for Washington utilties
- Estimated energy efficiency potential at low-income homes at natural gas load centers based on Census data.
Usage Analysis
Lighthouse has developed several methods to identify the space and water heating fuels and system types using monthly and hourly usage data. Leveraging this data can help utilities with targeting program marketing, maximizing the effectiveness of their programs or conducting localized potential assessments, by determining saturations of space and water heating equipment in subsets of their utility service territory.
Selected Client Projects
- Used monthly and hourly interval data from Emerald PUD to identify customers with electric space and water heating
- Completed usage analyses for two Washington utilities to identify likely heating systems based on monthly usage data
- Worked with the Energy Trust of Oregon on how electric and gas usage data could be used to distinguish space heating fuels and systems
Peak Demand and Hourly Savings
With capacity constraints becoming a pressing issue, understanding when energy savings happen and how much measures reduce demand on an hourly basis is critically important.
Selected Client Projects
- Translated 20 years of annual potential energy savings to hourly savings estimates for Snohomish PUD’s IRP
- Developed estimates of the hourly impacts of demand response programs for BPA
- Developed estimates of peak demand savings of BPA UES measures timed to specific utility peak demand timing
Program Reporting
Program reporting is about more than tallying up what your programs have done. Insightful analyses can help identify areas for improvement or help capture which programs are the most cost-effective.
Lighthouse has completed a variety of program reporting and can help identify an appropriate solution.
